Democracy! Whiskey! Sexy! Pt. II

It must be nice to live in a world where failure equals success :

“The more progress we make on the ground, the more free the Iraqis become, the more electricity that’s available, the more jobs are available, the more kids that are going to school, the more desperate these killers become,” Bush told reporters.

Translation: A day in which dozens die in bomb attacks does not mean we have failed to make Iraq secure; rather, we have succeeded in our strategic goal of making the terrorists agitated. You see here, it’s really six of one and a half-dozen of the other.

That rationale comes, of course, from the “shake the jar and see if they fight” school of international relations.

Update: Billmon reminds us that the `the terrorists are desperate now’ schtick is getting pretty old.
