Wow. This is really pretty amazing: Elizabeth Smart, kidnapped last summer, been found alive in south Salt Lake City. I googled around for statistics about the successful location of kidnapped juveniles, but couldn't find much. I imagine the numbers are not very good.

According to the FBI's National Crime Information Center, as many as 90% of the 876,000 persons reported missing in the year 2000 were juveniles; over 150,000 of these are categorized as "engandered" or "involuntary."

It will be interesting to see this story unfold; certainly, recovering Elizabeth Smart in her own home town is remarkable.
