Teaching pre-session is rough: 3 hours of class per day for three weeks. You think it’s hard to pay attention in class for three hours at a time? Try preparing for three hours of class at a go. We’re in week number three now, with just a few days left to go. This is a neat week for me, subject-wise: Lots of talk about the professions and medical work, plus a couple of days on subjects of insurance, politics, and economics of medical care. Still, it’s fatiguing for everybody involved, and I can feel some of my students running out of steam along with me. For them, it’s a three-credit bargain, and for me it’s a small salary and some good teaching experience. I’ll take it, but I don’t think I’ll do pre-session again!
