Bogus spam subscription inside Bloglines?

Update: Thanks to Bloglines’ Mark Fletcher for taking a look at this. On closer inspection, the phone cards feed seems to have replaced the feed from a blog whose feed I do subscribe to: In place of Tom Volscho’s blog (at blogspot) is something else entirely. Tom Volscho, where have you gone? Did the phone card people hijack your URL and stuff you in a phone booth somewhere? Perhaps I should rename this entry Spammers claimjump blogspot feeds?

I’m not sure what to make of this: It looks like a regular feed in my set of Bloglines subscriptions, but I’ve never subscribed to this one. It’s an ad for phone cards and it’s displayed exactly like any other feed:

Is anybody else seeing something like this? This feed was plugged right into one of my subscription folders.

  1. Can you send me some more information? Specifically, which feed are you seeing this for? Is it the case of one of your existing subscriptions being ‘hijacked’ or is this a new subscription? Any additional information would help. Thanks.

  2. Hi Mark-

It looks like everything at Bloglines is working just right—a blog whose feed I subscribe to has been replaced by the phone card people. I’m not sure if it’s quite right to say that the feed had been hijacked, but something has certainly happened to it—but not at the Bloglines end of things.

  3. Hey Alan. Yeah, Tom’s entry in my bloglines has been replaced with the same garbage. Perhaps this is the “problem” they were referring to during that outage the other day? Some sort of infiltration by an ad worm?
