Saved by Bloglines!

Things around here seem to be put back together again, for the most part.

One feature of web-based RSS aggregators that I hadn’t considered is that they can fill in as as a sort of off-site backup. Because Bloglines reads my feed regularly, it had a more up-to-date copy of the content of this site than the backup made by my web host on Monday night.

To restore those entries, I just looked up my feed via Bloglines and replaced the three or four that were missing. It wasn’t a total piece of cake, because Bloglines uses some wacky javascript to present their data, so I couldn’t just copy and paste. But it was a nice option to have, and certainly better than the alternative of losing them to the grinding platters of a dying hard drive.
