They're not even trying

I’m not really shocked that phishing remains a viable business model, but shouldn’t these guys have to work a little harder than this?

  1. Keeping in mind, of course, that it doesn’t look wrong to many people. In a sense, phishers are more inclusive and inviting than legitimate vendors, since they embrace (and then steal the identities of) people who make common grammatical and spelling errors.

  2. I see what you mean, though I’m not sure that errors like this are genuinely inviting. After all, if I’m fooled by it, I didn’t know the difference, right?

I’ve always thought of paypal in particular as the kind of service that required a little more web savvy than most, and so would be a harder target than [mybank]. I must be wrong, however, because I keep getting these damn messages.

  3. I always knew I was billing information!
